MIDI KEYBOARD OR SOUND MODULE SETUP
======================================

The following section gives you step-by-step instructions on how to load system exclusive files from a sequencer into a
large collection of Roland synthesizers and effects processors. In order to follow these directions, you should start from
scratch by turning the unit off and then back on again. In the synthesizers that have an Exclusive Unit Number, specifically
the D-5/10/20, D-110, D-70, GR-50, JUNO 1 and 2, U-20, and U-220, the parameter called Exclusive Unit # needs to be set to a value of 17.
A few of the units like the D-50, GP-8, MKS-50, MKS-70, MKS-80 will require the MIDI Channel to be set to channel 1
before loading.

Loading any of these systems exclusive files will destroy the data currently residing in the synthesizer or effects unit.
If you wish to save the settings currently in the machine, record a system exclusive dump into Media Player or your
sequencer or save to a RAM Card/Cartridge.

One additional note to help you understand the way Roland products deal with system exclusive files. When you call up a
patch on a Roland synthesizer or effects processor, it places that data into temporary memory. When you dump system
exclusive data into the unit, it will not effect the patch that is in the temporary memory buffer. This means that when
you have completed the system exclusive dump, you will have to select a new patch to confirm that the alternate data has
been successfully loaded into your MIDI module.
